Makes about 3 dozen cookies
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups (1 package) chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a small mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugars together along with the vanilla extract until well combined and mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients, beating well after every addition. Stir in chocolate chips and divide batter. Add nuts to half of the batter and stir to combine.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoon onto and ungreased baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool for a minute, then transfer to wire rack or clean kitchen counter to cool completely.
