It’s Hard to Cook When You Can’t Turn on the Water

It seemed like it was going to be a regular Sunday. Walk the dog. Eggs and toast with coffee. Do some laundry.

It was that last step that threw a wrench in the whole works.

Also, it didn’t look good when I walked down the stairs to find standing water-like substance in our basement.

After a torrential rain on Saturday evening and during the night, I initially thought it was just a leaky basement due to the rain. I don’t know.

Turns out, all of the water from the house was spewing out through the line where the washer empties. Yep, sinks, shower and, yes, the toilet.

It’s strange how we take running water and sewers for granted. We just expect clean water to come out of the faucet and then go down the drain.

Not so. We’re waiting for the plumber now and we’re paralyzed by the fact that we can’t use any water in our house. No showering, washing hands, cleaning and NO COOKING.

Looks like we will be getting take out for lunch.
